The truth behind the closing down of TV Links. If you haven’t heard, and quite frankly if you haven’t you must have been on the moon or something,the website TV Links has recently been shut down. The reason? “providing links to copyrighted material”.

Reeeeeeet then! It was taken down for providing links to copied content…NOT for hosting it, just providing the links. Um…surely not right? So if I provided a link to TV Links, was I infact breaking the law, as some sort of accessory to provide links to copyrighted material? Nah, that would just be stupid. Wouldn’t it?

So let me get this right….the powers that be are going to stop people linking to copied content, TV shows etc… erm, well NOPE YOUR NOT! How the fergin’ billywhack do you expect to do that then? Have you forgotten..THIS IS THE INTERNET. You can’t regulate it to that extent. It’s pointless trying. I can go online and find a hundred copies of the latest Simpsons or Southpark to watch if I felt like it. The latest episodes of any TV series in fact. The latest films, games, music…..literally in SECONDS you can find the stuff, on hundreds (thousands even) of sites. ‘Um..OK then, lets see you get regulating then…go on…..I’ll watch!’

Kieron Sharp, the Director of FACT, said about TV Links. “Sites such as TV-Links contribute to and profit from copyright infringement by identifying, posting, organising, and indexing links to infringing content found on the internet that users can then view on demand by visiting these illegal sites.” Sharp says that many more sites will go down in the future. Well righty then…and EVEN MORE will no doubt pop up. WHATS THE POINT?
Bring back TV Links. Sack the idiots who decided to arrest the guy, and ship them off to a tiny island somewhere where they’ll get eaten by massive crabs. See, look at me, I’m living in a fantasy world. Just like you guys who think that you can stop people posting copyrighted material. It’s very sad that Brad Pitt cant buy a brand new baby rhino skin head scarf encrusted with massive diamonds because he makes ever so slightly less from films or whatever because of pirating (which I think is total bulls*** by the way). It’s awful that that Paltrow lass, the skinny blonde one, has to get rid of her 24 carrot Bengal tiger because some guy put up a copied version of ‘Se7en‘…..um, no it’s not really!
